| Chilean in Valencia, Spain | Member since September 2021 |
He currently works as a freelance illustrator after years as an Art Director in different advertising agencies in Chile and Spain. But that doesn't stop him from painting and drawing in parallel. His works have been exhibited in galleries, he has participated in design projects and worked for publishers, clients of major brands and audiovisual productions.
“I have liked to draw for as long as I can remember. I am self-taught and I am constantly learning. My monkeys are what I like, telling stories, creating characters out of nothing, whether they are people, animals or monsters. Imagining where they live, what they eat and how they interact. Creating these improvised plots of imaginary friends while I let myself be carried away by the pencil.”
With a strong Pop influence and aesthetics of television culture, Jose presents us with images saturated with overloaded messages. In whatever format and technique, that is, an illustration with pencil and paper, a digital drawing, watercolor, a canvas, collage, some personalized element or object or a sticker on the street. Everything serves to show his work.
“In my work, the world is full of colors, fantastic creatures, chaos and humor.”
