Conka
Recycling images
By collecting images from magazines and prints, Conka constructs new possibilities for existing images through collage. Her search mainly aims to generate intersections between meanings and translate those exercises into graphic work and illustrated products full of colorful jungle scenes mixed with images from classical art.

Why do you make art?
How would you describe your job?
I make art because it is a way of expressing myself, of showing who I am, what I see and what I feel. I would define my art as a mix, mainly through collage . It is a recomposition of images, creating new images from existing ones, it is recycling. It is really very entertaining to see when you pass the same images to other people, in collage the result of the compositions is always different. In art I like to innovate. Lately I have been very dedicated to the subject of products, I like to see my images applied to different products, it is what interests me the most lately. I also love to see my framed paintings, I really love to be in houses, in homes in any way, whether in paintings, products, I like art to live, to live the image, to live the color.
What are your greatest pursuits as a creator?
What are your creative processes?
My greatest quest is inspiration. When I am inspired I try to push myself as much as possible. This year I have been slower, maybe weaker in that aspect, I have not felt as creative, rather I have been focused on developing products, it has been a more contemplative year, of seeing and observing. But when I am inspired I do a lot, I gather images and execute. When I am inspired my process is based on generating compositions and collecting images that I find attractive and I save and categorize them , so when I want to do a piece or I have an idea of what I want to do, I already have a large part of the work ready.
What are the most significant works or projects that you have participated in to date?
The works that I love are the first ones I made, those that when I saw them I realized I could do something good, I realized there was composition, color, that there was a future. Those works are super treasured for me. I have saved prints of those works and an original. As for the processes, my favorite are the diaries, which I'm making for the third year. Obviously, the collaboration with Latin America FineArt is also great, because you can reach a lot more people, and the quality of the prints is spectacular, it's one of my most beloved collaborations.
What is your view on the state of the art today?
What art does the world we live in need?
How do you see Chilean art?
Art in general has to communicate, it has to make people visible, it has to raise awareness. I think there is something for everything, I also think that nowadays it is important to talk about current issues. That is why the artists who are more disruptive, those who shout against the system, like Banksy for example, are so striking. My art is a little more relaxed, it is a little more about forms, composition and color, more than a call for attention. It has a very clear line between the Renaissance, the wild, the colorful, well filled with information . My art does not make a call, it is not my line, but I do like that type of art and I think that is what the world needs today to raise awareness among people. And among Chilean artists I love Guillermo Lorca , I love Cecilia Avendaño 's Enfermedades Preciosas , I also find Fab Ciarolo dry.
